Attention Las Crucens! Your roller derby teams have been drafted for both travel and home!! What does that mean? Well… Home teams will stay in Las Cruces to compete against one another and participate in exhibitions, events, promotions. Your travel team will compete on a national level against teams in our region. Yes – it’s true, we’re working toward a legitimate, ferociously athletic league. Find out who we’ll be bouting against by visiting the WFTDA website.
We know several of you have been waiting to see us in action. With that said, training for roller derby isn’t as simple as pulling on a pair of skates and rolling around in a circle. It takes a considerable amount of money, blood, sweat, tears and hardcore training to get us up to speed competitively. We must learn proper skating form and techniques, how to fall/hit/block, work together as a team, know the rules and do this all while balancing work, kids, family and life in general. You don’t want to see us play a team and get obliterated right? Us either. We want to put on a good show and make you proud!!!
We’re working on a local bout for later this Fall – we’ll keep ya posted. Until then, we’ll keep getting stronger, faster and more excited about this thing we call DERBY-LUV. You’ll find out exactly what that is soon enough. xoxo…
