As I got up in the ring and spoke into a crowd of what seemed like 1,000 people, I was greeted by the cheers of local fans and supporters of Roller Derby. It was so refreshing to see our fans again. The event also allowed for us to show our fans that roller derby never left Las Cruces even though we are currently skating without a venue. Our girls put on a hard hitting demonstration, with some even sliding into the crowd, and at the end of it all there were even more cheers from old and new fans. In addition to bouting, our girls gladly helped as volunteers.
Our very own, gorgeous Choni Chaser and Lil MicHellion escorted the boxers to and from the ring all night long. Some of us skated around and helped sell raffle tickets for the event, and did other various volunteer activities. It was an honor to be asked to be a part of the night’s entertainment and recognized as one of the leading entertainments for the night. As always, we were glad to be a part of a good cause. Thank you Battle of the Badges and No Doubt Entertainment for allowing us to be involved in such a great event!
